BEST OF YEARBOOKS 2013

Best of Show

Your assignment is to scour through the winners and produce a top-8 PowerPoint of takeaways from your evaluation of the winning entries. What is it they’re doing well? What makes them so interesting?

Focus on the newspapers, newspaper special editions and publication websites. There are links provided for the websites, for sure, but most of the newspapers listed probably have a web site and many of those will take you to a print edition of the publication. Use the "Google machine" to help you find those publications.
Please make sure that you don’t simply say “I like this” or “this is cool” but provide some reasoning behind your decision. Make this a tool we can legitimately use for learning.
Assignments such as these tend to be design-driven, but make sure some of your analysis looks at their writing, because that’s one area of focus we uncovered this weekend during our own publication critiques.
If you want to work with a partner, that’s fine – but then you will need to come up with 15 takeaways instead of 8. You will present your PowerPoint to the class on Thursday or Friday.
